Bangkok flood getting worse

Bangkok Senator Rosana Tositrakul explains how water-push devices help speed up flood drainage in Khlong Ratchamontri in Bangkok’s Bang Bon district.

Vehicles move in a flooded street of Chatuchak district in Bangkok, capital of Thailand, on Nov. 5, 2011. A total of 446 people were confirmed dead and two people were missing in the floods that have inundated the upper part of the country for almost three months, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department reported on Saturday.

Bangkok city has won the "battle of the pumps" with the central government, but officials say the waterproof tuk-tuk will be necessary for a while yet, as it will take two weeks, minimum, to pump the floods out of the capital.
